Our Telecoms and E&P group have a proven record in project delivery from large to small multi/single discipline projects, providing engineering support and assurance on numerous regional and national rail frameworks throughout the UK.

Working within the Project Engineering division, we have a team of experienced, flexible and multiskilled engineers with the right-first-time approach to delivery on an exciting and challenging portfolio.

Due to continuous growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team in the capacity of a Telecoms Assistant Project Engineer.

Roles and Responsibilities

Within this role you will be directly involved with determining project requirements, understanding project remit and have the ability to identify and manage changes. You will support the successful and safe delivery of project deliverables within the project teams and attend internal and external engineering meetings.

The successful candidate will assist with regular updates of the project plan with the project management/planning team. You will collate and review site diaries and record any issues and work with the engineering team to ensure isolation, possession and safe work plans have been identified and booked in a timely manner.

  • Support the management and identify any project specific requirements
  • Support with the project specific site inductions and liaise with relevant stakeholders and other third parties
  • Work with the engineering team to ensure isolation, possession and safe work plan have been identified and booked in a timely manner
  • Assist in regular review of standards, legislation and processes and ensure their implementation
  • Participate in readiness checks to ensure that engineering activities are planned thoroughly in a safe and effective manner
  • Ensure that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standards
  • Contribute in the production of Project Risk Assessments and ensure adequate control measures are in place so brought down to an acceptable level.
  • Brief project documentation to the project teams, subcontractors and stakeholders as identified.


  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work as a team member and demonstratable organisation and time management skills
  • IT literate – Microsoft Office including CAD software such as AutoCAD, Visio and Microsoft J.
  • Experience in Rail Engineering Systems
  • Knowledge of Project Plans/Change Control
  • Basic understanding and awareness of the CDM Regulations
  • A flexible and positive approach to your work
  • Driving licence


  • Engineering Technician
  • ONC/A Level
  • 3 years’ experience in discipline specific project engineering (Telecoms/E&P)

Fluency relates to a person's language proficiency and their ability to speak with confidence and accuracy, using accurate sentence structures and vocabulary.
