Overview

Linbrooke Services provide high quality Telecommunications, Civil, Power and Minor Civil Engineering solutions to the Rail Industry. The purpose of this role is to lead the engineering delivery and to manage the site activities of the civil engineering elements of projects to ensure adherence to specification matched to delivery within timescale and budget.

Main duties

As part of your day to day role, you are responsible for the following;

 

  • Accountable for all works delivered by the technical installation, test and commissioning team.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for the day to day management of the technical installation, test & commissioning function.
  • Encourage creativity and innovation within the team.
  • Health and welfare of test & commissioning staff.
  • Maintain and foster excellent relationships with customers, industry associations, suppliers and partners.
  • Implement the test & commissioning processes and procedures described within the Linbrooke Services management system for projects / bids.
  • Manage the overall resourcing of the team to ensure adequate and competent resources are available to support business current and future requirements.
  • Identify process improvements within the test & commissioning function and manage formal implementation.
  • Review standards changes that impact on the test & commissioning function and implement any specific changes as required.
  • Manage & chair formal test & commissioning reviews for the team.
  • Ensure that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Support the bid team in the preparation of test & commissioning technical, cost and programme information to support projects/bids.
  • Liaise and assist the HSQE team to ensure due regard is given to safety / quality and environmental issues associated with projects/bids.
  • Act as mentor/coach for members of the test & commissioning team.
  • Act as the CM (Commissioning Manager) for projects.
  • Act as PICOT (Person in Charge of Testing) for projects.
  • Provide technical support during the I&C of systems.

The above list is not exhaustive; you will occasionally be asked to undertake additional duties where it is reasonable and appropriate.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCE

Essential

  • Previous appointments as TIC for Network Rail projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent team member with organisational and time management skills.
  • IT literate
  • Driving licence.
  • Thorough knowledge of aspects of telecoms technical installations, testing & commissioning as applied to railway telecommunications.
  • Thorough understanding and appreciation of the CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent practical experience and thorough appreciation of system technical installations, testing and commissioning, safety concepts and associated decision making as applied to railway telecommunications.

Desirable

  • IRSE TIC/Test Manager Licence
