About The Role

A new and fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team in the capacity of a Construction Manager - Signalling.

Working within Rail Construction division, we have a team of experienced, flexible and multiskilled engineers with the right-first-time approach to delivery on an exciting and challenging portfolio

 


 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to manage the installation and testing activities of Signalling projects through your direct actions or through delegated actions to achieve compliance, ensuring:

  • The projects comply with the scope of works, the clients’ requirements and your organisation procedures.
  • Operational, technical, and safety principles are met.
  • The effective use of competent resources.
  • The progress of projects is effectively monitored.

As part of your day to day role, you are responsible for the following;

  • Provide technical and professional leadership to the signalling installation and testing resources of LSL and its partner / sub-contractors as appropriate in order to ensure the completion of signalling project installation and testing tasks and delivery activities are achieved in accordance with agreed specifications, quality, budget and timescale constraints and requirements;
  • Ensure the deployment of competent and suitably experienced installation, testing and delivery resources to signalling programmes / projects, including the management of effective and robust CofC for managed resources;
  • Procure / select / recruit / develop and line manage signalling installation and testing resources on behalf of the Principal Construction Manager , including the leadership of the signalling elements of LSL cross skilling / dual competence training and development programmes;
  • Ensure the provision of an effective technical cascade of information and updates for the signalling installation, testing and delivery resources and validate the understanding of the content with the ‘audience’;
  • Ensure the accurate preparation and integration of technical, cost and programme information for signalling led projects and bids and similar for the signalling element of multi-functional bids and tenders as directed by the Head of Signalling;
  • Ensure as appropriate the adequate review and appropriate level approval of SWP and other delivery documentation for the use of signalling resources;
  • Be responsible for the signalling constructability review and appropriate approval of activity programmes, schedules of deliverables, resourcing planning, bills of quantities / schedules for the ordering of project materials & consumables on allocated projects;
  • Prepare and recommend to the Principal Construction Manager for approval signalling technical workscopes and remits to sub-contractors as appropriate for allocated project/bids.
  • Be responsible for being the integrating mind / role for construction and test & commissioning delivery on project works
  • Provide input into designers’ risk assessment processes incorporating ‘safe by design’ principles and thinking into constructability assessments;
  • Ensure that construction risks and mitigations are correctly recognised by designers and incorporated in delivered works in accord with the Common Safety Method and CDM regulations including the production of records and suitable retention in the project health and safety files;
  • Ensure the implementation of processes and procedures described within the LSL management system for project and bid delivery;
  • Lead the signalling construction team focus on safety / quality and sustainability matters associated with project delivery and bids;
  • Operate an adequate and robust construction quality surveillance regime capable of recognising risks to safe delivery and the application of suitable controls (in close liaison with the Principal Construction Manager whom shall operate the overall assurance regime);

  • Experienced in NR PDSW 019

Desirable

  • Sufficient underpinning knowledge of discipline specific technical skills
  • Sufficient underpinning knowledge of discipline specific non-technical skills

Schedule

Monday to Friday, Office based position.
