To replace the existing, out of date, public address (PA) and voice alarm (VA) system at Manchester Piccadilly station with a new system that meets the current BS5839 Part 8 standard for Voice Alarm systems. 

The work also includes the renewal of the existing A-Z departure board, countdown displays in the satellite lounge and digital clocks in the bulkhead on the concourse.

Manchester Piccadilly is one of nineteen major station managed by Network Rail and provides national long distance destinations between major cities within the United Kindgom. The station has twelve terminal platforms and two through platforms that operate on the basis of a "station within a station" these two platforms accommodate up to fourteen trains per hour. 

Piccadilly is also a major interchange with the Metro light rail system. As part of network's commitment, they are responsible for providing a modern PA and VA system capable of being used by station staff to safely manage daily running of the station.
