The Project Engineering Management organisation, within the Communications & Control Group is responsible for the delivery of the project engineering needs of projects for the business.
Working to contracted deadlines and well-defined milestones for the delivery of project objectives, telecommunications engineers are involved across all aspects of service delivery. We advise on everything from strategic direction to the detailed design, installation and commissioning of systems with the support and production of technical and operational documentation.

As a Graduate Telecoms Design Engineer, part of your day to day role you will be inclusive of the following aspects with regards to our IMS:

•  Undertaking a variety of project work relating to rail technology projects;
•  Undertaking site visits to collect and then analyse relevant data;
•  Support the preparation of technical, cost and programme information to support projects/bids;
•  Support the preparation of bills of quantities / materials requests as necessary;
•  Support in the preparation of simple designs to support projects / bids including spreadsheets jumpering schedules and layout schematics;
•  Liaising with internal and external Design Teams, Clients and Contractors as appropriate;
•  Assist the HSQE team to ensure due regard is given to safety / quality and environmental issues associated with projects/bids;
•  Implement processes and procedures described within the Linbrooke Services management system for projects / bids;
•  Assist with test and commissioning activities under instruction from the TIC.

The following skills are required to undertake this role:

•  Ability to use industry standard CAD software to interrogate and manipulate models supplied;
•  Well grounded base knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques;
•  Understanding of new product introduction tools and techniques;
•  Awareness of design evaluation and review techniques;
•  IT literate (competent user of MS products e.g. Excel).

In Support of this role, the individual will be/have:

•  Educated to Degree level or have substantial experience in a related discipline;
•  Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills;
•  Good communication skills internally, externally and with all management levels;
•  Willingness to travel nationally reasonable notice;
•  Highly motivated, positive, flexible, team player.
