Meet | Olly Pickin - Signalling Design & Tender Manager
We are proud to announce and welcome Olly Pickin as the Signalling Design & Tender Manager at Linbrooke Design Services office in Swindon. Olly will be responsible for bidding and tendering of Signalling design projects and will contribute to business development and growth of our design services capability. Olly will be supporting the team of 16 strong signalling design team.
Olly said: "The highlight of my 20-year career in the industry was working on Crossrail and the North London Lines project in preparation for the 2012 Olympics. Over the years having worked for the likes of Alstom, Siemens and Atkins have thought me many skills and I hope to bring my calm and pragmatic approach to Linbrooke Design Services, and I am looking forward to supporting a very accomplished team of rail signalling designers. "
Before falling into the industry, Olly was a qualified sailing instructor and also a professional photographer. Unlike most other kids who wanted to be astronauts or rocket scientist, Olly wished to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and join the Royal Navy.
We asked Olly If you could have any superpower, what would you have and why?
"I suppose thinking about it my superpower would have to be the ability to breathe underwater because there are some many places out there in the oceans that have yet to be explored, that are untouched by humankind and are so beautiful. I also rock the beard to be the next Aquaman."
Outside of the work environment, family and friends are Olly's biggest passion with his wife and daughter being at the heart of it all. Olly enjoys the great outdoors with a good walk with his dogs in the forest and fields. Olly used to be a Rugby player and although he parked his sporting career for good, he still enjoys watching international games. Supporting his not so local team of Bristol RFC and also religiously attends Twickers for the annual Army vs Navy rugby match.

Why I love working at #Linbrooke:
"I was looking to work with a design team which had a robust and successful design background, and as I have worked with many of the designers previously, this was a natural choice to further my career. I have joined a new company, but it felt like I was a part of it for a long time due to my connections."
