Linbrooke appointed CSM Specialist Projects Ltd and Anchor Systems (International) Ltd to develop an environmentally friendly ground anchoring solution that has the ability to be rapidly deployed across railway sites across the UK.
Manufactured in the UK using local materials, new location cases have been installed in the Harlington area using zero concrete as part of the Flitwick Interlocking Intervention scheme.
The new system benefits the environment by 73% embodied carbon reduction equivalent to 13,920kg of CO2.
The project was featured in Rail Business Professional magazine. Click here to read the full article on pages 94-95.
Linbrooke Services Ltd are looking for ways to deliver our works more efficiently whilst reducing the impact on the environment. This innovative solution applied at Flitwick, achieved both of those goals.
Scott Louder MAPM, West Hampstead Life Extension Project Director from Linbrooke Services Ltd, said, "The project is utilising the latest screw anchor piles which require zero water, zero concrete and zero on-track machines. As demonstrated, there is a huge time saving on installation compared to traditional down bank staging solutions. From design to delivery, the team worked diligently and professionally to create a solution that leaves virtually zero environmental impact, achieving maximum value for each pound in the ground."
Linbrooke are working with Network Rail to extend the life of the lineside signalling assets within the Kentish Town to Bedford Interlocking areas. This work includes location cases, disconnection boxes, lineside cables, and signal, point and track circuit tail cables.
