We are looking for an experienced Rail Access Manager to join our Rail professionals team in Sheffield. It is essential that the successful candidate has a full understanding of relevant Network Rail and Railway Group Standards including but not limited to NR/L2/OHS/019 and NR/L2/OHS/133.
The successful candidate will undertake the duties of an SSOW planner in accordance with NR/L2/OHS/019 Safety of People on or Near the Line PPS Planning Access and will act as a planner in accordance with NR/L2/OHS/133.
Implement changes resulting from the updates of Network Rail standards and legislation including Planning and Delivering Safe Work. Where possible, establish a good working knowledge of the geographical railway infrastructure, for the area of project/ work. The individual will also play a crucial role in advising and assisting Linbrooke Services staff involved in SSOW planning on any relevant requirements.
Working closely with operations to identify all available possessions to optimise working and to maintain the project program the individual will be responsible for producing and booking robust, safe, deliverable and technically compliant possessions within the planning timescales and to budget. Identifying possession/engineering access risks and put in place mitigation measures throughout the possession lifecycle as well as ensuring that the possession requests are submitted in line with Network Rail possession planning timescales. Attend any possession meetings with Network Rail and other clients and be confident in submitting the possession requests to Network Rail using the PPS system. Submission of Isolation requests.
In this role, the individual will brief all appropriate management and construction teams on SSOW / possession arrangements planning possession/protection arrangements and submit 'registered possessions' and any other 'outside the rules' possessions as required reviewing and reporting on possession performance and utilisation.
On publication of the Confirmed Period Possession Plan, checking the details are in line with the possession requests. Ensure rework cycles on projects are minimised and lessons learnt are implemented. Complete all required documentation accurately and on time. Participate in staff appraisals as required. Call in on conference calls to discuss possession details as and when needed. The above list is not exhaustive; the successful candidate will occasionally be asked to undertake additional duties where it is reasonable and appropriate.
