Manchester Piccadilly Station DVR
There has been an increase in failures of the twenty-four hour per day close circuit television (CCTV) recording equipment located in Manchester Piccadilly station. These failures result in unacceptable CCTV outages, which prevent round the clock monitoring of the station. Therefore, a modern reliable, product approved new recording system is required which will be compatible with the existing control equipment British Transport Police (BTP) use.
The new system will retain the existing live viewing matrix installed in the station, to enhance reliability the supporting uninterruptible power supply (UPS) will also be renewed.
Project Overview
Manchester Piccadilly is one of nineteen major stations managed by Network Rail and provides national long distance destinations between major cities within the United Kingdom. The station has twelve terminal platforms and two through platforms that operate on the basis of a "station within a station" these two platforms accommodate up to fourteen trains per hour.
Piccadilly is also a major interchange with Metrolink light rail system. As part of Network Rail's commitment, they are responsible for providing a modern high availability CCTV system capable of being used by station staff and BTP to monitor pedestrian foot traffic and retrieval of evidence related to station-based incidents.
