North West Managed Stations SISS

Client Brief

This project was the renewal of all life-expired CCTV cameras, including the associated nodes, copper and fibre cabling at Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street Stations. The new IP CCTV solution was fully integrated with the existing Qognify solution and BTP facility at Ebury Bridge.

Linbrooke replaced all obsolete radio CIS displays with new InfoTec WiFi-enabled technology into the existing asset base at Manchester Piccadilly Station.

Project Overview

The project has seen a significant series of design stages involving multiple disciplines, followed by the installation and commissioning of all assets. Linbrooke’s design engineers completed the design in-house.

Intrusive surveys were undertaken to ensure a robust design could be produced. This involved an assessment of the existing cable management systems to ensure diversity and EMC compliance, a gap analysis of CCTV coverage and associated consultation with the NR station management team and local BTP officers, and a full review of CCTV camera positions to ensure ongoing maintenance could be achieved without the need for possessions/ isolations/ or working at height.

The key aims are improving system reliability and client assurance of the system. The in-house project engineering and delivery teams delivered the work. All works were predominantly undertaken at night, installing cabling through the extensive cable

Linbrooke’s teams worked tirelessly to ensure that the right first-time delivery ethos was maintained, and the cable and camera installation rates were achieved. The new CCTV cameras were predominantly installed into existing locations, however some new columns and bespoke bracketry was designed and installed by Linbrooke, providing compliant coverage for all key stakeholders.

Heritage requirements were managed at both locations and Listed building consents were applied for and granted to ensure compliance with legislation, ensuring new assets complimented the overall aesthetic of the station and the fabric of the building. From the inception and development of AIP design through detailed design, it has taken 18 months to get to the final commissioning stages.
